Fun Discovery!

I have been really diving into my stitching and getting to know what fun designs are out there that I am not personally familiar with. I found this last night: Alessandra Adelaide. Gorgeous!! I have added about fifteen of these to my wish list!!

Then.... today I found Casey Buonaugurio Designs. So cute! So, now I am adding several of these to my wish list. :-)

Eventually, I may even get some stitching done. I was thinking about kitting up my HAED for my trip.... but unfortunately I have found that the pdf pattern was a victim of my laptop virus last spring. If I have to buy it again, I might get a different one... Hhmmm... decisions....

Chatelaines and Scissor Fobs

Hey, look at that! I got back here in less than six months this time. LOL :-)

I am FINALLY working on that chatelaine project I talked about back in January. I found a photo of a pattern that shows the general idea of what I am making: chatelaine You see how it is basically a lovely stitched banner that hangs around your neck while stitching, keeping all of your accessories handy. Sure, the other three on this page are more in keeping with the traditional chatelaine design. However, I prefer the idea of something that does not have to be physically attached to what I am wearing, and can hold ALL of my accessories all of the time.

Now, the most important factor in this project has not yet been discussed. This IS a Jodi project. So, it will have Jodi colors and a definitely UNtraditional flavor to the overall aesthetic of the piece. LOL All I can tell you so far is that this is the fabric I have chosen to be the base for the project... :-P

Stay tuned for updates...

A New Book for my Wish List!

It seems that I have been lacking in creative output in recent months, so I have been looking for new inspiration. Last weekend I found just the prescription for a busy life devoid of personal time to pursue my artistic aspirations: Art at the Speed of Life. The book has ideas for working art into your life, rather than waiting for your life to make time for your art.

And, if that's not enough, I found the perfect companion! Kick-Ass Creativity appears to work on the motivations behind the creative process to drive you out of your rut, and help you connect with your natural creative process.

Now, let's all go MAKE SOMETHING!~

Get Arting!!!

Well, it's high time I updated this blog and got some new ideas flowing. I have reconnected with the two Yahoo groups that mean the most to me, i-love-cross-stitch and clothpaperstudio. I am ashamed to say that I let my last marriage get in the way of my creative muse. Now that ShesJustJodi, I will be making my art and my needlework a high priority, as it should be! LOL

Whenever I am starting over, I go back to my roots and dig into a nice cross stitch project. This gets me back in my natural flow and the design ideas come easily again. Then all sorts of artsy new pictures float into my mind and stew until they become art projects that I just HAVE to release from my Spirit. Well, my process did not let me down. I have been stitching on a mermaid that is cute as a button and every time I pick up the project I know exactly who I will send it to when I am done. ;-) It's going to be a great surprise as this person has NO IDEA they are even a thought on my mind when stitching. You can see a photo of it here. I just adore the colors, and it is working up pretty quickly.

Of course, getting back on the groups means getting all sorts of ideas to buy new stash for my cross stitch and my Art. Heaven and Earth Designs is a big topic on ILCS right now and I finally went their site and bought this after looking at 6000 (yes, really, six thousand) pictures over three days! I hope to get it kitted up soon and have another start, but I would like to finish the mermaid before I go back to work....

In the meantime, we have no couch in our new apartment and while I work I am struggling to keep all of my stitchy stuff nearby as I sit in a plastic outdoor chair with a little table next to me. I used to recline and just have it all on my lap while I worked. But this has given me a great idea to pull out the sewing machine and make a chatelaine sort of thing where all of my stuff would literally be hanging around. LOL What? You don't know what a chatelaine is? Well, chatelaine is French and it basically means the "keeper of the castle", which would be ME, The Queen! Perfect, right? LOL So I will use my creative abilities to fashion something that combines my love of stitching and my love of Art and can be used for either!

That's all for today. I would promise to update more often, blah, blah, blah, but we all know I shouldn't mke promises I dont know if I can keep! LOL So, I will just say...

Ciao for now!
Jodi
